Las Galeras, situated about 25 kilometers from Santa Bárbara de Samaná, capital of the province, is a pretty small village still preserved from the big Dominican tourist poles and located at the extreme Northeast of the Peninsula of Samaná. You could not go further; the road ends here on the beach, with its calm waters, and gives the feeling to be at the end of the world. The first impression is that you have reached a refuge where peace is absolute.This fishing village attracts by its simplicity, it seems to have a special mystique, life here is different, quiet and unconcerned.
Las Galeras Divers is a small family dive center offering a personalized service. A maximum of 6 people per group allows to dive into safety and all the dives are always accompanied by PADI certified instructors and qualified divemasters. Diving excursions are offered every day of the year. Given the poor diversity and marine life directly accessible from the shore, all the dives are done from the boat. The dives sites are located between 5 and 20-30 minutes of navigation, 40 minutes for the farthest points.
Living and working from 20 years in different places of Dominican Republic, Serge & Christine, the owners, both from Switzerland, decided to stay here and to develop their little dive center and diving school, not only for the charm of this nice village, but also because it is there that one can find the most beautiful ocean floors of the Peninsula of Samana and of the Dominican Republic Northern coast.
The diving center Las Galeras Divers exists today for 16 years. Las Galeras Divers is working under the operating license, with annual renewals, delivered by the Dominican Tourism Ministry.
The diving sites selection is adapted to the level of practice of the divers and to the tide, marine and weather conditions. The Atlantic Ocean which bathes the coasts of Las Galeras could be sometimes rough. The currents, the underwater visibility and the sea conditions vary according to the seasons and the weather but it is almost always possible to find protected sites in order to dive with good conditions.
The coral is still alive and extraordinarily beautiful and we can find here a variety of incredible diving spots :
Coral gardens, coral labyrinth, caves, walls, wreck and the famous spot of Piedra Bonita in Cabo Cabrón (a coral tower which is going down from 5 meters to 55 meters). We can also meet turtles, rays, giant barracudas, colored tropical fish and a lot of other representatives of the local fauna.

Las Galeras Divers is the ideal place to practice the scuba diving and to improve your skills thanks to the range of the PADI SCUBA CERTIFICATION COURSES proposed, under the supervision of a qualified professional team.
IT IS POSSIBLE TO BEGIN YOUR SCUBA CERTIFICATION ONLINE WHERE YOU CAN COMPLETE THE CLASSROOM PORTION OF THE PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE AT YOUR OWN PACE, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE WITH PADI eLearning.
The course at disposal for the beginners are ranging from the discovery of scuba diving (Discover Scuba Diver), to the first diving license, the PADI Scuba Diver (for diving under the supervisory of a professional), to the PADI Open Water (independent diver license).
For the more experienced divers, we offer the Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver et Dive Master certification courses. All the PADI courses are teached in English, French, Spanish and German when available.
Regarding the already certified divers, we recognize all the certifications: SSI, NAUI, CMAS, FFESSM etc...
